Welcome to the FARO SWE/UX applicant website. First off, congratulations for your interest in this
position! On this website, you will find all the information you need to get acquainted with the
Software Engineer positions we have open on the SWE/UX team in Portugal, and then (we hope!)
apply to one of them.
The Company
Here's a quick rundown of our company: FARO is listed on
NASDAQ - and was recently quoted by
Forbes magazine as being the 18th fastest growing technology company in the US, alongside big names such
as Google and Red Hat.
The Team
Our team in Portugal is currently composed of six members, and interfaces with the Metrology
team in Florida, USA. It is responsible for the User Experience, Workflow and Framework areas of the
products developed by the Software Engineering division. We are looking to build a high-performance,
highly-motivated team to cope with the challenges that lie ahead. These are exciting
times at FARO, and we want you to be a part of it!
Of course, we believe that to ultimately achieve the best results, we must not only ensure an
alignment between the team's needs and what the candidate has to offer to the team – experience,
knowledge, accountability and outstanding performance –, but also an alignment between what the team
and the company offers – in terms of working environment, responsibility, salary, etc. –, and what
the candidate expects from a job at FARO. To that end, we want to provide you with an idea of what it is
like to work at the FARO SWE/UX team.
Life at FARO SWE/UX
Once you are admitted to the job, you will sign a 1-year contract with FARO comprising of a 3-month
probation period. Don't be scared just yet! We do this because first, we want to retain only the best
talent and second, because we believe that if you are confident in your ability to perform the job
with outstanding quality and performance, you will not be thrown off by this challenge. It should be
noted that it is common that once we spot top talent, the new team member is signed permanently after
only a few weeks on the job. It is that evident!
On the job itself, you will be working from a very pleasant and modern office setting in Gaia,
overlooking the Douro River.
You will be given a great degree of freedom within your assigned project, with ample room to make
your creative and innovative ideas a reality in products that will be used by thousands of people at
the world's most recognizable brands, such as Porsche, Boeing, Airbus, among many others. Our corporate
culture is one of openness, and we firmly believe that in order to cultivate learning, people must
never be afraid of asking even the most basic question, or questioning the most basic assumption.
Our team strives to make the best use of the latest technologies from Microsoft, so you are guaranteed
to be keeping up-to-date with the best that the software industry has to offer.
What's next?
If you feel this is the perfect work environment for you, and are positive you can make a big
contribution to the team's creativity and performance, we urge you to go ahead and apply for an
available position.
Once you pass this test and prove to be among the best candidates, you will be invited to an in-person
interview, where you may be asked to perform an additional test with different questions.
Good luck!
The SWE/UX Team.
